Super Dimensional Coffin Part 21

This is a serial, the first part is HERE

Chapter 20: A land flowing with…

Hills like sleeping giants, so scared of the night that they cover themselves with white blankets completely. A quite remarkably odd sun. Giant pillars of many colours atop which burned great fires. Dark streams flowing throughout, glittering fish leaping out from time to time to eat brown beetles with brightly coloured shells.

In the distance, massive red objects could be seen, veiled by misty sweetness.

Kneeling in despair, wanting to cry, but quite unable to, a skeleton with skeletal wings and a white doctor’s coat. Beside him, a plant with a humanoid head with a skeletal deer body!

-It’s the food dimension, and I can’t eat anything!- Dr. Bones wailed.

Mmmm, uhgh, don’t feel too bad Doctor, I’m a plant, so I just feed from sun, water and soil!” Miss Fern gulped.

-Lies, you just swallowed a bite of this cakeland didn’t you!?!-

Indeed, the food dimension, where all foods and recipes manifest, or perhaps the dimension from which all foods and recipes originate! Whatever the truth is, the food dimension is home to food of many sizes and types. The coffin had arrived on the cake, which was clearly a land-type food.

The fish were but pastel sweetfish and the beetles were some kind of chocolate-like creatures with a crunchy and fruity shell. The sun in this particular part of the hyperdimension, was some manner of molten fondue cheese.

Well, going by the knowledge you gave me, it isn’t impossible for undead to eat?”

Dr. Bones got up and dusted the icing off his coat.

-Most more corporeal and incorporeal undead can eat the living flesh of their own kind, but everything else is like ashes to them. Skeletons however, unless they eat the memory of a thing, have to settle for nothing at all. All undead can muster a faint echoing of eating if they use their spirit to eat. I’ve not gotten the knack of it though.- Dr. Bones lectured, now that he had an audience of at least one.

Dr. Bones had indeed squeezed in a few attempts to drink coffee before had attached Miss Fern to her new body. Sadly the stuff had gone right through him. Dr. Bones was just glad the coffin had cleaning Golems.

Maybe you’ll get the hang of it while we’re here Doctor.”

Miss Fern looked around.

I don’t see any sign of a lab after all”

-Judging by the last time, it shouldn’t be far from where we are, I doubt we’ll be fortunate enough to find someone made ill by the lab-

It would be nice if the lab is peaceful. Do you think it might still be running?”

Dr. Bones shook his head.

-I doubt it somehow. Come, let us follow one of these syrup rivers. Most dimensions, people will build along them. We should find a village or a town, we might even find the lab-

Sneaking another bite of the cakeland, Miss Fern trotted after Dr. Bones.
