Caravamel Part 25

Chapter 24: The Brave Twipstrider with no Hump

Oboll T’s chain tracks spun, churning up the frozen ground ripping through the air as Slush-bunny sloshed about frantically protecting it’s black ear plumes. Mayhem followed them and danced with them, nothing withstood this melee, it was quite likely that even if the Chairseer defeated Slush-bunny, the forgehome’s days were over.

Back and forth, ebb and flow.

Naturally Turmeric and the Caralid family didn’t care about this ludicrously destructive battle they mostly cared about the fact that they headed right for it.

“This is a bad idea, this idea is no good! This is the worst idea you’ve had in my life!” Kejo wailed.

Ismi grimly cracked the reins of the caravamel as they skidded over the rubble and ruins. This prompted an angry snort from Turmeric, who in the midst of running turned his head back and glared at Ismi.

“If you do that again, I’m going to just let us get squashed” Seemed to be what the glare was saying.

It was quite a nuanced glare.

Ismi was actually so sufficiently intimidated that she let out a gasp and hid under her Pot, such was the force of that noble and now cantankerous beast’s gaze.

Turmeric focused, and his mind, already at a high level for a beast, began to ascend.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Three legs striking against the ground.

Debris flying, shards of ice.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Denser, Denser, Denser! The torn up surroundings grew fiercer as Turmeric approached the battle.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

First Oboll T, eight limbs, each with deadly spinning chain tracks. Eight limbs to pass.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

The first limb swept over. Clear. The second. The third, the fourth! A windmill of doom, ploughing the ground and turning rubble into deadly missiles.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Shuddering, Wobbling, creaking. Kejo wailing. Turmeric did not fail. Stubbornly he pulled. Twisted.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Then the drill. Oboll T’s drill wasn’t particularly aimed at the caravamel, but that was fault of the Chairseer being terrible at controlling his machine.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

It brushed right beside them. That was where Kejo’s courage failed him, and he hid back under his pot, which was still clutched by his unconscious father. Turmeric was undeterred.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

There was only Slush-bunny a mass of purplish slushy liquid, two tar-black plumes as ears. A great wave. It crashed down towards the caravamel, intent on submersing it whole.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Slush-bunny underestimated Turmeric. A swift jerk, and Turmeric had torn off one of the black plumes.

It was then that Turmeric ceased to be a mere beast.
