Caravamel Part 15

Chapter 14: The Absence of Slug Humour and Resignation

The Frulids stared in shocked silence at the audacity of the slug’s actions.

Pardon me sir, but we cannot sell the honey drink” Yerdl protested.

<Of course you can’t, you must after all keep it for our forgehome>

I-i what?” Ismi was flabbergasted.

No, you don’t understand, the honey drink, we need it for our village” Kejo explained.

<Don’t be silly, if you needed it for your village, you wouldn’t be selling it to us> the slug replied.

There was a moment of silence as the three frulids pondered this ludicrously suspect line of logic.

The slug in its machine ignored this of course and moved behind the caravamel.

<Well then, I shall escort you then, for your own safety you understand, onwards!>

Seeing as how the tailless slug had no intention of letting them hold onto their goods, Ismi quickly acted.

We have no choice now! Kejo, tell a joke!”

Ismi and Yerdl slipped into their pots.

Kejo as usual had his doubts, but dutiful child that he was, he did as his parent asked.

As soon as he finished his blasphemy against humour, the tailless slug just tilted the head of its machine quizzically.

<I do not understand, why would someone do that to a hammer?>

Kejo despaired. It seemed he had encountered far too many things that his jokes could not work on. It seemed more than having no sense of humour, this tailless slug didn’t even have a concept of humour.

He alerted his parents to his failure, and together, quite resigned, they moved onward under the watchful blue eyes of the tailless slug.
