Gilded Blue Theft Part Fifteen

Chapter 14: Supposedly you can learn anything from books.

“Seriously? Well, can’t say we didn’t warn her. I’ll knock her out then” B2T said.

He rapidly rolled over to Golbassy, as if he intended to ram her!

He was actually planning on stopping once he was in front of her and then giving her a forceful tap that he had figured out from experience was enough to knock people out without harming them.

Instead he found himself flying through the air and bouncing off a wall and onto Alfreed’s head, severely dazing the poor bat. Afreed was pretty fortunate he wore armour.

Eadam was going to call for running away, as trying to kidnap someone who could fight back well was usually too much trouble but before he could there was a cracking and a roar from Mobby as she turned into her clawed, fanged and horned warp-form. Naturally of course she was not just sitting down changing, no she was leaping at Golbassy.

Golbassy flowed over to one side of Mobby and thwacked her in the back of the body, sending her beak first into the ground. Mobby was a rebcubre however, and would not be bested so easily, she spun from the ground, claws flashing out. Golbassy carefully batted away each strike with her books as they came, Mobby getting angrier with each hit that failed to connect.

“How? How is a tiny thing like you strong enough to stand up to me?!?” Mobby snarled.

Golbassy began fighting back, as if she was getting into the flow of things.

“One hundred push-ups while reading, One hundred squats while reading!” Golbassy declared herself.

“Haha! Don’t make me laugh!” Sachs objected, breaking her limited element of surprise.

Being able to see it coming Golbassy jumped on top of her arm and gave her a face full of book for her troubles.

“Grongol the Great’s combat manuals on bookbashing for general fighting!”

Then she flipped herself up over Sachs’ head and the shot that Hood and Heed had fired at her hit Sachs square in the face instead. That was Sachs out for the count.

” ‘How I learned to see as the eyeless do’ for general awareness!”

Eadam, deciding that there wasn’t much for it since the fight had started, joined in. The wide area of his weapon and Golbassy’s size meant that she could not have evaded it. So, she didn’t, she took the brunt of it with her books then she rolled beneath him and thwacked him into the incensed Mobby, forcing him to defend against her.

“For Counters, the ‘Thorn of Thorns’ is informative!”

Then she tossed a book at Heed and Hood, setting off their crossbow before they had finished pulling it back and loading it. This had the result of sending one airborne and wall bound, and the other one got tangled in the crossbow.

Mobby had completely lost it at this stage and Eadam found himself locked in combat with her. It seemed resistance from a book wielding shewpog had pushed her out of the realms of sense.

That left only two, Davis and B2T. Golbassy knew where Davis was, the turnip didn’t seem too worried. Leaning on his club, seeming quite relaxed. It was in reality a bluff, if Davis hadn’t been a turnip he’d have sweated out a small lake.

Golbassy discovered where B2T was by the shadow suddenly being cast over her, quickly she flipped open her remaining book and tore a few pages out, tossing them into the air before B2T. They didn’t at all stop him, merely brushing off his form. He laughed.

Golbassy wordlessly cried out, her golden eyes flashing, the pages were suffused with a golden glow, and transformed into golden ethereal chains, binding B2T in mid-air.

“You didn’t really expect someone using books not to use book magic did you?” Habi taunted.

Davis really didn’t like this one bit, however with the ‘sacrifice’ of B2T he was sure he knew most of whatever tricks and techniques Golbassy had to offer. This was generally what Davis did, and while he found his companions tiresome sometimes, he also found them great cannon fodder. Davis was not a very nice turnip.

“Hey, that robe is alive isn’t it? You possessing her?” Davis asked casually.

Golbassy and Habi were taken aback that someone had noticed, though really it was pretty obvious, if one knew anything about clothes in Elcon. Davis had seen a few clothes-possessed before. They fought with the strength of two people, even though one of the people in question was a garment.

Still, he had caught them off guard so he wasn’t going to let the chance pass just because they shouldn’t have been surprised.

He whirled his club over his head and smashed it against the ground. This further confused Golbassy, as Davis was still quite far away from her, she was in no danger of being hit by the club.

Though, she was never in danger from being hit by the club. It was not the purpose of the club to hit people. Golbassy was confused and so was Habi, so they didn’t notice the ground rising up to hit them.

Davis did not let up for a second, he began clubbing the ground up to hit Habi and Golbassy repetitively. They could not react at all, bashed this way and that by the very ground beneath them, Davis juggled them well, though not expertly. He kept going until he was out of breath. Habi and Golbassy lay still upon the ground.

Eadam had finally managed to bring Mobby back to her senses, and Alfreed had regained his senses from having B2T bounce off him.

“Could someone get me down from here?” B2T asked.

Alfreed worriedly moved over to the still form of their target.

“You think she is alright?” said

A robe sleeve whipped him off his feet. Then Golbassy and Habi rose from the ground, completely from the ground. Golbassy was hidden within Habi, and Habi herself was billowing out such that in spite of her being a robe she looked quite a lot like some dangerous predatory bird. What Davis hadn’t counted on was that generally living clothes and their hosts didn’t co-operate, thus the power of both, while greater than the two on their own was usually reduced. Golbassy and Habi were in relative harmony. This was mostly down to Habi being about as fast as Golbassy at reading, the partnership wouldn’t have worked otherwise.

“Oh, well that isn’t good. Floating is never good, I didn’t know that she’d float!” Davis complained.

“SUBMIT!” Habi and Golbassy spoke as one.

Pages rushed out of their sleeves and spun around her.

There was a clattering as those that could drop their weapons did.

Eadam got down on one knee.

*Neiiiigh!*
