Caravamel Part 33

Chapter 32: The Wet Clang

The metal fish gave a wet clang as it slapped into Ginnerel’s face, following that, it slowly slid off to reveal an uninterrupted and unblemished grin. It was in that moment that Ismi became frozen with fright at the sight of who she had just thrown a fish at. She was so scared that ice actually covered her body.

Ginnerel sighed and then pulled a note of music that shattered the ice, yet, as with the curious song, it did not wake the sleeping companions of Ismi, it smoothly transitioned into playing music and a trembling Ismi opened her mouth to speak.

“W-what do you want Dark Herald, give me your dark news and leave!” She cried.

Ginnerel grinned wider. Now this was more to the Grinnerel’s tastes.

-Preserve from preserving-

“P-preserve from preserving? Stop from saving? Is that what you mean? What do you mean, isn’t that far too vague, h-hey can’t you tell me more”

Ginnerel began to slowly fade away until only its grin was left, a common trick among the widely grinning.

Seeing that the Dark Herald had left, Ismi shook her head and relaxed.

“Stupid mysterious beings, can never get a straight answer from them even if you act how they want” She muttered darkly.

She wasn’t showing a bit of the fear she had earlier. That however, was just appearance. Truthfully she was quite spooked, and like Turmeric she spent quite some time trying to figure out what in the world the Dark Herald was on about, but as her eyes grew heavy, she was no more clear on it than Kejo and Turmeric.

She just simply vowed to not save anyone at all. If she saw someone being chased, she just hide!

This was of course, not really that different from her usual behaviour. Ismi really wasn’t the best of people.

So, after keeping watch and messing around with the dead metal fish, she woke Yerdl for his watch.

He too would be visited by the Dark Herald.

That however, would not be the only thing he would encounter on his watch.
